About UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE)

Civil Services Examination (CSE) is conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC)  every year to recruit candidates for various All India Civil Service posts.

Civil Services Examination (CSE) is a broadly a two stage process – Preliminary and Mains Exam. Further the Mains exam is itself a two stage process consisting of Written Paper and Interview Stage. Thus, we can say that CSE is basically a three stage process.

As per the 67th annual report by UPSC, a total of 1128262 candidates applied for the Civil Services Preliminary examination 2015 against 1164 vacancies. Out of these a total of 15382 candidates qualified for Civil Services Mains examination. The No. of candidates recommended during 2015-16 was 1164 in total.

(iv) Indian Revenue Service (Customs and Central Excise)
(v) Indian Defence Accounts Service
(vi) Indian Revenue Service (I.T.)
(vii) Indian Ordnance Factories Service (Assistant Works Manager, Administration)
(viii) Indian Postal Service
(ix) Indian Civil Accounts Service
(x) Indian Railway Traffic Service

(iv) Pondicherry Civil Service
(v) Pondicherry Police Service
